We have discussed the properties and benefits of thermal paper, especially when you are looking at the business world. Speed and accuracy are hallmarks of thermal printers and thermal paper, making them ideal for companies with a vast printing needs, like restaurants wit POS terminals and display and pay parking kiosks. We don’t often see thermal paper as a part of home life, but a new camera is about to change that.
Michael Ciuffo, an electrical engineer from the west coast, has built a prototype for his new invention – the PrintSnap. This camera lets us take a step back from the wired world and brings us back to what a picture is – a preserved moment in time. Picture resolution is 640 x 384 pixels and printed on standard receipt paper with a mobile hand held thermal printer. If you do the math, you’ll find that for the price of eight Polaroids, you will get more than 8,000 PrintSnap images. Images are not stored and cannot be uploaded to any kind of device; they are simply – and quickly – printed.
This impressive use of thermal printing provides the right level of nostalgia and vintage look that has become popular. While you can’t purchase the camera yet, you can begin stocking up on receipt paper for all your fun photos.
